Donkey Republic is seeking an Ruby on Rails backend architect to join the team in Copenhagen. Donkey Republic is an investor-backed startup spreading cycling across the globe through our bike-rental platform. Our platform is capable of converting any bike into a rentable bike using a smart lock. We work with many professional partners across many different countries to deliver a fully-automated bike-rental service and so far we've put more than 100.000 happy riders on bikes in Europe and beyond.

We are looking for an experienced backend architect

This opening is a unique opportunity to join Donkey Republic as we are expanding our already successful service into a new customer segment. This means that you from day one will have instant influence on how the service is delivered to our customer.

You will take over a well tested, -organised and -maintained code base.

 The product vision is to design a system that provides a great and seamless experience for our riders, as well as a system that enhances the life of people living in the cities where we’re present.

What your job will be

You will join our skilled product team as a backend lead architect/developer. You role will span widely from participating in design meetings and supporting our CTO in planning upcoming features over designing the architecture of our backend and coordinating APIs with app developers to implementing and pushing solid code to Heroku where our solution is hosted.

It is a position that will potentially have touch points to our entire organisation as important user input is collected from stakeholders across all teams.

We cherish virtues like code reviews, consistency and code conventions and have a big setup of tools to help lint and test our code in any way.

You will also be part of helping our product designer and the rest of the product team in planning new features and making our vision of creating the best bike share in the world come true. 

Who you are

We expect you to have years of experience with building services using the Ruby on Rails framework. Preferably as a lead developer or alternatively you are at a point in your career where you feel ready to step into this role.

Our team is what defines how strong we are. We expect you to engage with your new team mates, share experiences and feedback so that we can grow strong together. 

You should be fluent in english as we are an international diverse startup with 17 different nationalities on our payroll.

And of course, we love bikes, so it doesn’t hurt if you do too.
