In Denmark business support policies are focused on promoting innovation, growth and the digital economy, and do not aim to address social inclusion. But there is much talent out there, and many people using their skills to make a living have a hard time getting access to banking services. We are developing the first solution that bridges financially excluded business owners and banks. Yes, microfinance in Denmark.

Our vision is to improve the economic productivity and livelihoods of micro-business owners in Denmark by expanding their access to financial services, primarily corporate accounts and micro-loans.

We have entered a pilot project with a partner bank to develop MVP for client recommendation and risk analysis in a niche market: refugee business owners in Denmark.

Our current beneficiaries are business owners who have been granted asylum, but we are already looking beyond, at how to support other under-banked groups in Denmark who have a dream of being self-sustainable. We are also looking for ways to strengthen the capacity of domestic financial institutions to encourage and expand access to banking for all.

In order to do this, our strategy is to:

  • Further map the reasons for exclusion of micro business owners

  • Develop mitigative measures to the risks perceived by banks. These would include:

    • Develop a rating mechanism taking into consideration alternative data for clients having no credit history

    • Develop tools for seamless on-boarding of those clients, compliant to AML and KYC regulations

    • Developing tools that mitigate the banks risks in servicing those clients so they could be viewed an attractive segment to give loans to.
