Who we are

Here’s the story. Three Danish school friends (Alexander Christiansen, CTO. Mads Fibiger Co-CEO and Christoffer Immanuel, Co-CEO) didn’t like any of the underwear we wore - so we decided to make it better. No fashion school - no experience - no dots were connected and nobody said “ah, that makes sense”. But Organic Basics was born anyway.

Back then we didn’t exactly think that sustainability was going to be at the centre of the fashion conversation today either - but we knew something was wrong with the industry. So we wanted to create a brand with purpose and meaning - to create something that we wanted to
wear ourselves.

Sustainability had to be at the core of everything.
That meant choosing environmentally friendly fabrics, partnering with responsible and transparent factories and designing products for longevity. Sustainability is always at the core - that’s what drives us to innovate and develop. 

Q&A with Christoffer Immanuel

What are your plans for the future?

We put sustainability at the core of everything we do. We’ve invested in a green European supply chain to minimise our waste, water, and energy footprint. By working with the highest globally certified sustainable standards we use sustainability as a source of growth - not just as a superficial “nice to have”. Most importantly we invest in the people and the knowledge that makes this fashion revolution possible. Our plan is to use that approach to create the complete sustainable wardrobe.

Why did you become an entrepreneur?

Basically I wanted to do something that had a positive impact on the dirty fashion industry. I though about joining an NGO, but quickly realised that the most efficient way to drive change was throguh a commercial company(analysing the biggest change makers through out history) Organic Basics was born on the idea to give people a more sustainable alternative to the dirty fashion industry. Actually I see myself more as an environmentalist than a business entrepreneur.

Aside from achieving commercial success, what do you see as your startup’s mission?

Organic Basics exists to help consumers make a more sustainable choice. We’re doing that by creating innovative sustainable products and building a community that celebrates and supports environmental activism and healthy living. Through education on our online platforms, they’re learning how to be better consumers together with us. We’re building a sustainable brand that people can trust, now and always. Commercial success has never been the mission of Organic Basics however commercial success is necessary in order to create a sustainable business.

Describe your perfect day at work.

I guess it's all the imperfections of a vibrant startup life that makes up a perfect day.

What is your best advice for entrepreneurs who are just starting out?

Focus - When you do something for a really long, you'll eventually get better at it. Whether it's doing yoga, educating children or building a business.
