GreenLab Skive is creating a new global paradigm for the future of energy
We combine all forms of sustainable energy into a unique mini-grid distribution system we call SymbiosNet© - the first of its´ kind in the world. After five years of preparation, the GreenLab operation was launched in January 2019, with capital investments to install and operate a new intelligent energy infrastructure. The mini-grid system can deliver, exchange and optimize electrical, thermal and chemical energy among various green industries in a 60-hectare energy park.
The consortium of public, private and research entities is fully engaged and is in the process of delivering a commercial- scale “power to products” platform based on green energy, electrofuels and surplus-energy exchange. Four industrial sites are commissioning in 2019, and 80MW of site-connected renewable energy will be deliverable in 2020. Today, GreenLab Skive is already established as the European R&D center for Digital Energy, and we are a first mover in commercial-scale green energy storage and optimization. In addition, the coming GreenLab Center will house offices and facilities for education, research, commercial development, incubation, spin-offs and international conferences.
GreenLab is a partnership between the municipality of Skive, a regional energy partner and a Danish foundation. This strong backing of resources and expertise provides the know-how and the financing to build the required mini-grid infrastructure for heat, electricity and gas distribution and storage, including wind, solar and biogas power. GreenLab manages a consortium of partners in Denmark and abroad, which together are investing over 1.6 billion DKK. Our core team of five is now ramping up GreenLab for full-scale operations.
