We’re a biotechnology company creating something new, valuable and useful from what otherwise would be trash. In a circular business model we upcycle food waste into alternative biodegradable textile. We act as a supplier of our materials to companies excited to dream with us of a sustainable future.

CORE

We’re a team of fun-loving visionaries passionate about materials research. We believe in the power of creativity and innovation to shape our future sustainable world. We love geeking out on testing new processes in industrial scale production methods, and mechanical modification of our materials. Hard work in the lab at DTI is what we live for and we’re people thinking outside the box, willing to get our hands dirty :) We have a partnership with TI Teknologisk Institut researching mechanical modifications & forming our industrial scale production processes.

CLIENTS

We’re specific about the clients we choose to work with as their values should be aligned with ours. In a way we are co-creating: taking clients’ communicated aesthetic and functional requirements as design direction for our experimentation in the lab. We're currently working on an order for Meyers Madhus who is also supplier of apple pulp waste, and we're looking to expand to further markets: from packaging to cosmetics & fashion to architecture, we believe the future is in upcycling.

VISION

Our vision for the future is circular, synergistic partnerships with both institutions & clients across industries. For example we can make a packaging product for Meyers, and use the waste we create in fractioning our apple pulp in the lab, combined with a waste from harvesting wheat in flour production, for a facemask product for Urtekram. In this way we make money on waste while enabling our research in the lab on new materials. The technology is here, it’s just a matter of using it!

What are we looking for?

You are a passionate and driven lover of sustainability. You’re structured and focused but you also love to have fun and be a bit weird when the time calls for crazy :) You always meet deadlines and thrive on a challenge.

Working at
The Apple Girl

We’re a biotechnology company creating something new, valuable and useful from what otherwise would be trash. In a circular business model we upcycle food waste into alternative biodegradable materials as a supplier internationally and in DK. In this way we solve a waste management problem. Our unique storytelling and sensuous tactility in Apple Leather really makes an impact with users.  Work for us is also play and we really enjoy ourselves when we’re together making things happen. We love mistakes and in the lab you discover something new every day. There’s always an idea you can follow through and test on.  We all have very different competencies but contribute equally in unique ways to the team research. Weekly workshops with Skylab Ignite and Stardust at DTU are where we grow together. We’re also making brainstorming jam sessions after work. You can look forward to chill music and nights out on the weekends.
