The Role

We’re looking for a Lead Startup Scout, to build and manage our startup scouting team based in Cairo. As Lead Startup Scout you will be an essential part of creating and managing our global scouting team. You will work closely with key stakeholders from our offices around the world, manage the local team of scouts in Cairo and take the lead on sourcing high-potential startups for both our startup accelerators and corporate innovation projects around the world. You will report directly to Rainmaking’s Head of Scouting, based in Copenhagen, Denmark.

We're looking for somebody who can:

• Work closely with key clients and stakeholders from all over the world
• Manage the Scouting Team in Cairo 
• Be responsible for project planning and execution
• Take a key role in building and implementing global scouting processes
• Provide work-in-progress reports
• Scout the world for the best and most relevant startups
• Engage in due diligence to assess the top startups
• Coordinate with startups
• Optimise and iterate on our existing startup scouting processes

Is this you? 

• Self-starter: You take charge and deliver on your own, acting both proactively and independently
• Able to take responsibility and work on projects autonomously
• Analytical: Data collection and analysis experience including interviews, surveys, market reports
• Credibility: 1-3 years full time of project management experience
• Demonstrable passion for startups and an understanding of the highly dynamic environment in which they operate
• Multi-tasker: Able to wear many hats, ambitious, superb organization, highly motivated and buzzing with energy
• Highly organised: You are able to manage time, ensuring that deadlines are met and operations run effectively and efficiently
• Metrics driven: Comfortable with lean testing, analysis, and optimization
• Digital citizen: Passionate about smart technologies, platforms, up to date and at ease with the latest online productivity tools
• A strong team player: able to work in a fluid, collaborative environment 
• Troubleshooter: You are able to respond to crises with actionable plans
• Resourceful and logical
• You love people, are empathic and optimistic
• Fluency in both spoken and written English is a must
• Bonus points for: relevant experience as an analyst/scout in a venture capital firm, innovation team or accelerator
