eeSea is aiming to disrupt the global container shipping industry

eeSea is a start-up in the global transport and container shipping industry. Our vision is to become the central backbone platform for the entire industry – the Google Maps of container shipping, a billion-dollar industry.

The founder has extensive experience from this massive industry and is aiming to disrupt it. This requires an ecosystem approach, where we work with our industry partners through APIs, collection of big data volumes, and deep analytics.

The team currently consists of the founder, our research & industry analysis team, and our business development team. We are now building our lead generation marketing team.

Our office is located at Symbion, in Østerbro, Copenhagen. We have recently closed our second funding round and are supported by senior industry figures.

LogTech as a startup category is heating up and Copenhagen, with our maritime heritage and entrepreneurial ecosystem, is uniquely placed to take advantage of this development.

Job Description – you will build our marketing machine

As our go-to-market efforts pick up speed, we are looking for a passionate and experienced Marketing Automation Specialist to build our digital marketing efforts into an efficient marketing machine that delivers a constant flow of quality leads for our sales team.

Your primary tasks will be to:

  • attract, convert, and onboard customers to the eeSea platform
  • set up and take charge of the digital marketing tools required to do this, all the way from lead generation, through customer funnel analytics, over mail and campaign automation, to customer satisfaction and community building
  • set up and manage the software platforms that align with this strategy, including but not limited to PPC, social media analytics, Google Analytics, Intercom/Yesware, MailChimp, Zendesk, etc.
  • make sure they work properly with our CRM system, including correct customer segmentation, identifying up-selling opportunities, and measuring retention
  • optimize the performance of our landing pages, content, visitor paths, and conversion rates; take leadership of the management and design of our website
  • assist our outbound lead generation by setting up and automating mail flows, in liaison with the customer-facing reps
  • collect information about our inbound leads (newsletter sign-ups, social media shares, blog comments, etc.) and pass them on to the commercial team
  • work with the Marketing Communications Manager in delivering created content in various forms, and testing different delivery methods
  • create, execute, and measure the results of our marketing campaigns; take responsibility for marketing budgets and ROI measurements
  • set up detailed and high-level metrics, to be reported weekly and constantly improved upon
  • share the customer insights and drive sales growth with the rest of the team

The position is a multi-faceted one and requires tech savvy and in-depth, hands-on experience with the required tools; but it also requires a creative side, allowing you to persist and find new solutions and ways to approach the market. You do so by putting customer understanding at the core of what we do; by measuring, automating, and constantly optimizing our digital efforts.

As we are a startup, you will not have a large corporate structure backing you up, and therefore need to be able to discuss the strategic elements of the below aspects and execute on the deliverables yourself.

You will report to and work closely with the founder and CEO, and liaise closely with the rest of the commercial, product, and development teams.

Person and Skills

As a person you:

  • have an understanding of the full suite of marketing tools outlined above, and a desire to stay on top of new tools and ways of doing things
  • are skilled in understanding and interpreting data
  • enjoy – and even look for – the challenge of building and growing a platform, instead of just keeping a static application running
  • are proactive, self-driven, and able to thrive in a fast-moving startup environment
  • take ownership; when a task resides with you, we trust it will be driven to completion, on time and to high quality
  • are structured, focused, and able to keep to task lists and timelines
  • are fluent in English (Danish not a requirement)
  • are flexible in your processes, and know when to make adjustments or test something new
  • have working knowledge of designing and building a website
  • do not need to have transport industry experience, but need to be willing to learn quickly
  • have preferably proven your broad marketing automation skills and tech savvy in another reputable company or high-growth startup
  • are committed to the job and the growth opportunity in a startup
  • enjoy working as part of a team, with the smiles, grudges, chaos, frustrations, laughter, and good people that come along with the experience

What do you get out of it?

Do you dread the heavy corporate structure and boring work routines of large companies? We are a budding startup company, so expect none of that. We offer you an exciting and growing position within a small company, where routines do not exist and where we are flexible and passionate about what we do.

We believe in and commit to working closely with and coaching our new team members, so you will need to learn and teach at the same time. Passion is non-negotiable; you provide energy and drive, and love what you do.

The Marketing Automation Specialist position is full-time and offered a market-aligned salary, based on experience and fit.

Working hours are flexible, required tools are provided, working from off-site is allowed, within reason. During the application process you may be asked to take a personality assessment and cognitive test.

We have ambitious dreams to change the container shipping industry fundamentally, but also immediate and realistic targets to become profitable and grow our company.

Working at
eeSea

Global container shipping carries 95% of the world’s manufactured goods. To many, the Ever Given stuck across the Suez Canal was a first peek at the interconnectedness of global supply chains; subsequently Covid put the spotlight firmly on timely goods delivery (or lack of same…) and transport costs; and most recently the industry is started to grapple with its role as a major emitter of greenhouse gasses. Headquartered in Copenhagen, eeSea is a well-established maritime supply chain intelligence scale-up, offering unbiased visibility and predictive analysis. Our vision is to become the central scheduling platform for the entire trillion-dollar industry.
