Press Officer with a sharp pen and fluency in Danish and English

Salary Competitive

TechBBQ is Denmark’s largest startup- and tech-summit. With more than 4000 guests over two days, we have grown rapidly since our beginning in 2013, and have more than doubled in size from 2015 to 2016. And 2017 will be no different! We're massively scaling up the event and therefore we are looking for a journalist or communicator with a sharp pen, who can attract the press to our summit and ensure consistency in all communications efforts.

You'll be an integral part of the team managing the event and will report directly to the two CxOs. We are offering a wage-subsidized position, or alternatively a full-time internship or volunteer position.

As our PR Officer you will be responsible for attracting the press to TechBBQ through research on Danish and international journalists and outreach via phone and e-mail. You will also write newsletters, press releases, and work closely with our marketing team in ensuring consistency in all communications efforts. You will work closely with the CxOs of TechBBQ, and we expect that you can go with the ball on you own when completing your tasks and fulfilling your responsibilities.

Your tasks include:

  • Contacting and liaising with Danish and international journalists
  • Answering enquiries from the press
  • Write press releases, newsletters and other written communications
  • Ensure consistency in all our communications efforts by developing communication strategies with our marketing- and growthhacking team
  • Participate in PR meetings with TechBBQ partners and develop joined communications plans with them
  • Manage the Press Room on our website and take charge of press admissions
  • Lead the Press Meeting on the summit-days (5th and 6th of September) as well as manage all press-related matters at the event.
  • Work closely with our graphics/website partners on developing content
  • Helping out other teams on an ad hoc basis - we're in this together!

About you:

  • A university background in journalism or communications
  • Preferably you have some professional experience with journalism, communication or PR from internships, volunteer work or previous positions.
  • A go-getter and self-starter
  • A team player, who can work independently within the team and with others
  • Open-minded and like to interact with people from different backgrounds
  • Preferably a demonstrated interest in entrepreneurship and/or technology and innovation
  • You thrive in a hectic environment with a very steep learning curve and a workload that increases, the closer we get to the summit days

With experience/skills in:

  • Written, oral and aural fluency in Danish and English is a must
  • Copywriting experience, preferably in both Danish and English
  • Developing story ideas
  • Working to many deadlines
  • Preferably editorial experience
  • Understanding of the relationship between PR, communications and marketing
  • Preferably experience with PR
  • Experience with communications strategy development, planning and execution
  • Great organising- and multi-tasking skills
  • Understanding of the startup-scene and some political understanding prefered
  • Great interpersonal-, team-working and negotiations skills
  • Energetic and open-minded
  • Thriving in a fast-paced work environment
  • A demonstrated desire to work within the startup- and tech-scene

What's in it for you:

  •  Be part of a tight-knit team coming together to create the biggest startup- and tech-summit in Denmark
  •  Work in a truly international setting with many stakeholders, wanting to make a positive difference for the Danish and international startup- and tech community
  •  Hands-on experience with upscaling a major Scandinavian tech summit.
  •  Local & international network within Corporates, Investors and Startups
  •  A unique work experience guaranteed to make lots of new professional contacts
  •  A job with lots of creative freedom in the most exciting industry in the world
  •  Most importantly loads of fun! We regularly throw dinner parties, drink bubbles and celebrate our wins!

We expect you to be part of the team starting ASAP and up until after the event in September. The closer we get to the event the more hours will be required, so evening and weekend work must be expected the last month - we require some flexibility from you and of course you can expect the same from us.
